Welcome
ARGENTINE SOCIETY
OF VETERINARY MEDICINE
The Argentine Society of Veterinary Medicine ("Sociedad de Medicina
Veterinaria Argentina" in Spanish
Language) was founded in
Buenos Aires in 1897, 14 years after the veterinary studies were
established in Argentine and when there was only one Veterinary School
functioning: La Plata (belonging to the University of La Plata).
Its address is Chile 1856, Code Area 1227, Buenos Aires, and its
situated in the South quarter of Buenos Aires and six
blocks away from the Houses of Parliament, functioning on its own building
of about 400 sq meters comprising administrative offices, library, two
main rooms of the Board, an auditorium with capacity for 100 seated
persons and of course kitchen and two sanitary facilities.
It also has two telephone lines, 0054-11-4381-7415 and 0054-11-4383-8760
plus e-mail service
socmedvetar@ciudad.com.ar and Fax 054-11-4383-8760.
The Society is incorporated under the law since february 26, 1917.
As the Society is a private body its membership is entirely voluntary,
now about 900 members; those members belong to what we call chapters of
which there are five: Parasitology, History, Small Animalls, Laboratory
Animals and Cardiology.
The Society edites the Journal of Veterinary Medicine ("Revista
de Medicina Veterinaria") which was founded in 1915 and is now
in publishing about six numbers per year.
